Update

First a little update. Lee Roy is doing fine. They did another CT this morning and found the fluid is still building up, but there wasn't enough to drain. They are going to be keeping an eye on it. If it keeps building up they are going to put in a drain pipe. Other than that he's doing well.

My mother told me she was going to be doing a family fast this Sunday. I'd appreciate all those that join in.

More details

They drained the fluid again. And they will be doing another CT tomorrow to make sure that fluid doesn't continue to build up. If it does they will put a drip line in to make sure that it drains as needed.

Eleve said that Lee Roy is much more peaceful and took his full last feeding without spitting it up. So that's good.

A set back

Baby Lee Roy had another seizure last night. They did a cat scan last night and found a build up of fluid. I don't have a lot of details yet.

If you all could take the time to direct a prayer for Lee Roy it'd be much appreciated.

More progress and then a jam

Eleve, called me this evening and sounded really up beat. Lee Roy was able to get enough food for one his last feeding. That's a great sign. Eleve says he really alert and is steadily progressing.

Mean while we at home are doing well thanks to family and the ward. Our good neighbors have taken our children during the day allowing me to work. And couple of angles, I mean relief society sisters, brought us a fabulous dinner tonight. Then I had one of the notions and saw the apricots falling from our tree. I didn't like that. Last year we had hardly any and year before we didn't have time to do anything with them. So of course I though I'll make jam. We picked a bucket full, and I called my mom for some pointers. Good thing I did, I think it saved me a lot of time. Mom and dad came over and helped me make 4 1/2 pints of good jam: thanks mom and dad!

Starting to feed

Yesterday Eleve began her vigil at the hospital. He goal was to begin feeding Lee Roy so that he'll be able to return home.

Her first feeding was a little frustrating, but he did latch-on even if he didn't get much milk. However I just got off the phone with an excited Eleve. He is now doing much better. He is feeding. Apparently he still swallows a lot of air and doesn't get enough quite yet. The nurses are still feeding him with a stomach tube as well. They are also beginning to switch his seizure medication from intravenous to oral. No doubt in preparation for returning home.

The family at home is doing well. We have wonderful support from the ward. Different neighbors are taking my children everyday this week so that I can work. I'll admit that dad is adjusting to doing both Mom and Dad's morning chores, but the children have been really helpful. Autumn cleared the table for me today, and everyone did there chores without fuss. Still I miss my wife, and long for her safe return with our Lee Roy.

Some pictures from Grandma and Grandpa

Blaine, and Judy went down to Primary Children's Hospital yesterday to visit Lee Roy. (As a warning only Grandparents can visit without Eleve or I there.) Judy was able to hold him for 30-40 minutes. He's still doing well. Eleve will be there Monday to begin feeding him. When he eats from her and begins to gain weight he'll be coming home.

Here's the pictures:

Progress

Baby Lee Roy has been progressing well. When we called this morning he had done well through the entire night without ventilator support, and has been alert and active. Eleve will likely be going up sometime Monday morning to begin feeding him. When he is able to take all his meals from mother then he'll be able to come home!

Eleve and I think this may happen this week-end but we really don't know.

Also our friends the Brunsons have had a baby in the hospital as well if you could prayer for them as well it would be appreciated.

And finally Blaine and Judy will be up to visit Lee Roy this afternoon. Perhaps they'll remember to bring a camera and I'll post new pictures. He looks much better without tubes running in and out of his mouth.

Again everyone thanks for the prayers and help.

Family at the hospital

Eleve's parents headed home this morning. They have been such a help to Eleve and making it possible for her to get the rest she has needed.

This afternoon we took the whole family to Primary Children's hospital. That was quite the trip. The children were quite good on the way down.

While there we learned that Lee Roy had been taken off the ventalator and is doing very well. His billiruben count was down so when we got there he no longer had any tubes in his mouth. Lee Roy seemed very pleased about it. He was looking around and wiggling like any normal child. That was very good to see. They did another MRI which show that the blood clot was shrinking. It also showed some areas around the blood clot where tissue had died. They doctors don't know how it will effect Lee Roy, but we are confident that he will recover well.

The hospital visit itself was quite a tiring process. Because of hospital policy only two visitors could be at the bed side at once. This meant Eleve and I had to individually take each child in to see Lee Roy while the other stayed in the NICU waiting room. This was very trying to my patience. Having 4 or 5 bored children in a waiting room just isn't fun. We arrived just before 4 and left at about 6:30. Yikes that visit took about 90 minutes longer than I expected.

So not only were we short on patience but hungry too. Luckely Eleve packed enough snacks to tied us over until we got home.

Half way there we realize we forgot to bring the camera so I don't have any more pictures at the moment. Which is too bad, because he looked so much better.

Into

This blog is designed to make life easier. It's been getting difficult to keep everybody that I want informed up to date. (Bless all your souls for caring so much.) I'm going do occasional updates here and post pictures.

So far Lee Roy is doing well. He's been alert and responsive the last couple of days. And boy is he a strong fighter. It took 3 people and double sedation to do an eye exam, because he did want them too :) Don't get me wrong I hate seeing him so uncomfortable, but to see him express it and fight against it when 3 days ago we didn't know if he'd even be alive.

They plan on doing an MRI today (July 26th). And after our family is planning on a little re-union at the Primary Children's hospital.

For all of the help that has been given and offered thank you! It's so comforting to know so many of your are praying for us. I want you all to know that we have felt your prayers, and indeed God's tender mercies and assurances have been with us.

And here the latest pictures:
